STORY
Sajed, a 30 year-old inline skater from Qalqilya, Palestine, hustles as a barber to make ends meet so that he can devote time to his true passion: mentoring a group of young mavericks that skate, do parkour, and perform beatbox and hip-hop.Calling themselves the “X-Games”, they and Sajed feel isolated, caught between the concrete walls of occupation and the cultural barriers of their conservative society that do not understand their activities. And yet Sajed dreams of opening a club where he can train kids to learn how to fly.

Sajed and the X Games take us on an adventure throughout the West Bank and into Israel, where we see them perform in various venues. Their flying, flipping and rhyming become gateways to this new-found freedom, giving them access to places that they would have otherwise never been invited to go.

Their goal, and the goal of the film, is to build the first skatepark in Palestine, in Qalqilya.

MUSIC
We are also very excited to be working with Palestinian composer and multi-instrumentalist Tareq Abboushi. Once we joined forces with Tareq, it became apparent we had the opportunity to do more than just make a soundtrack for the film. Bringing together the music of the underground hip-hop scene in Palestine and the beats and rhymes from the kids in the film – all glued together by Tareq’s multi-dimensional artistry , we plan on making an album that celebrates the energy of youth in Palestine.
